PIPING AND DRUMMING SCHOOL FOR LEARNERS

APB have started a piping and drummer school for beginners which takes place in Augharonan Orange Hall, every Monday evening from 1900 - 2000.  Piping tuition is provided by mainly P/M Mc Elrath and Robbie Mc Kane and drumming tuition by Mervyn "Gabby" Galbraith and both disciplines are run under the auspices of the NI piping and drumming school.  Any learners interested in the local area are to contact any member of the band or E mail the webmaster, through the contacts link.  We currently are teaching both pipers and drummers from surrounding "road bands", not just Augharonan, so don't be put off!! This all, with a view to either forming a grade 4B band, or easing them into the 3A oufit.

WEBMASTER SUCCESS AT RAF CHAMPIONSHIPS

Piper Stephen Jones (Webmaster) had solo success at the  annual RAF Pipe Band Championships, held at RAF Kirkton and Lindsay on the 14 November, winning the Open MSR.  He played the tunes Willie Grays Farewell to the Glasgow City Police, Maggie Cameron and Thomsons Dirk.  This was followed by a second place at the Hornpipe and Jig.  Overall band winners were PM Lenny Browns RAF Halton, followed by PM Ian Hughes's RAF Leuchars.

Success in Examination

The piping and drumming school hosted by Augharonan, under the rules of the RSPBA, have had huge success in their Practical and Theory exams recently. The group which are mainly made up of school pupils (and Mervyn) had a 100%  pass rate.

A big congratulations to all and a big thank you from the band to Robbie.
